Crusoe, the AI data center and compute infrastructure company, closed a $3.9 billion Series F on September 17 at a $30.9 billion valuation, led by Atreides Management, Mubadala Capital and Valor Equity Partners.

The round is a direct expression of where 2026 venture dollars are going: not to applications, but to the physical layer of compute, power and cooling that every frontier model training run depends on. Crusoe builds and operates data centers purpose-designed for AI workloads, including energy strategies that lean on stranded and natural-gas-adjacent power.

The Bottleneck Economy

As long as chips and megawatts remain the binding constraints on AI scale, companies that control capacity will keep commanding outsized rounds. CB Insights data shows semiconductors leading all sectors in recent weekly venture funding at $2.3 billion, with AI infrastructure deals comprising the bulk of the year's record total.

Crusoe's raise also highlights the deepening ties between Gulf capital and American AI buildouts; Mubadala's participation follows a year of sovereign wealth funds writing checks across the sector.
