The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions again. On February 8 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Seattle dismantled the New England Patriots 29-13, claiming the franchise's second Lombardi Trophy and its first since the 2013 season.
The game was decided by a defense nicknamed the "Dark Side," which held the Patriots without a first-half point, sacked regular-season MVP runner-up Drake Maye six times, one shy of the Super Bowl record, and turned the game with a pick-six by Uchenna Nwosu in the fourth quarter.
Kenneth Walker's MVP Night
Running back Kenneth Walker III was named Super Bowl MVP after rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries, the most rushing yards in a Super Bowl in 28 years. Kicker Jason Myers added four field goals, and Julian Love sealed the scoring with an interception of Maye in the final period.
Darnold's Redemption Arc
Quarterback Sam Darnold, the former third overall pick long doubted by scouts, went the entire playoffs without committing a turnover and finished the night lifting the trophy as a champion. Head coach Mike Macdonald, at 38, became one of the youngest coaches to win the game.
The win made Seattle the 17th franchise with at least two Super Bowl titles, and it arrived in a season in which the Seahawks were not among the preseason favorites.
