Anthropic closed a $65 billion Series H on May 28 at a valuation of roughly $965 billion, led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, Capital Group, Coatue and D1 Capital Partners; a haul second only to OpenAI's $122 billion March round among private financings this year.

The capital arrives as Anthropic's Claude products have pushed deeper into enterprise and consumer markets, and as the company has positioned itself as the safety-focused alternative in a frontier race that regulators are watching with new intensity.

The Valuation Question

A near-trillion-dollar private valuation prices in years of continued capability gains and revenue growth at a scale few software companies have ever sustained. Investors in the round have effectively underwritten Anthropic's bet that enterprise AI spending compounds the way cloud spending did.

The raise also sets up the second half of 2026 financing calendar, where the remaining mega-rounds, infrastructure plays and the long-rumored Anthropic initial public offering all compete for the same investor attention.
